THE NEW age of efficiency appears not to be dampening manufacturers’ desire to build high-performance flagship cars, with 3,000bhp worth of shiny new models set to descend on Birmingham’s Performance Car Show in January. Among the headliners are the Jaguar XKR-S GT, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, McLaren 12C Sprint and Aston Martin Vanquish. The Ferrari steals the outright performance headlines, with 0-62mph dispatched in just three seconds and 100mph disappearing in only 6.5 seconds, courtesy of a melodious 6.3-litre V12 engine under the long bonnet.
Ford is opening a new technical and racing support center in Concord, N.C. The compound will be fully operational this summer, supporting racing teams as they develop and test their cars. The 33,000-square-foot building will eventually help in development of future Ford performance vehicles.

Neiman Marcus revealed its Christmas Edition car for 2013 last month, but all we got was a single scanned photo from the Neiman Marcus Christmas book of the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante. But now, as an introduction for the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante to the U.S. market, Aston Martin are planning to show the Neiman Marcus Edition Vanquish Volante at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week.
